HEAT
Red Cedar Sauna
Begin with the warmth of the private sauna. Red cedar, the natural scent of timber and dry heat form the first stage of the experience.

The Nordic Ritual
Heat, cold water and fire in one private mountain wellness ritual.
At Chalet 1932, the red cedar sauna and wood-fired hot tub become one evolving experience: begin with heat, move into naturally cold water, then let fire transform the same water into a warm outdoor hot tub.
Signature Experience
The Chalet 1932 Nordic Experience is built around a simple idea: moving through different forms of temperature and relaxation without leaving the chalet's private outdoor area. Dry sauna heat, naturally cold water and the fire that gradually warms the hot tub create an experience shaped by contrast, rhythm and atmosphere.
This is not a rigid spa protocol. It is a way to experience the mountain through natural materials, water, heat and time — at your own pace.
HEAT
Begin with the warmth of the private sauna. Red cedar, the natural scent of timber and dry heat form the first stage of the experience.
COLD
Before the fire is lit, fresh water in the hot tub is approximately 10°C in winter and approximately 15°C in summer, making optional cold-water immersion possible.
FIRE & WATER
Then the fire begins. The same water gradually warms through firewood heating and the experience shifts from cold immersion to a warm outdoor hot tub.

Wellness Benefits
The value of the experience comes from both relaxation and contrast. Research on sauna bathing, cold-water immersion and warm-water bathing is most supportive around thermal responses, post-exercise recovery, perceived stress and evening wind-down.
Sauna bathing and warm-water immersion temporarily increase blood flow toward the skin and create a strong sense of warmth. Moving into cold water introduces a very different thermal stimulus, making the experience intensely sensory.
Heat may help relax tired muscles, while cold-water immersion has been studied as a way to reduce post-exercise soreness. It is a natural fit after hiking or a day at the Kalavryta Ski Center.
The calm of the sauna and warm water contrasts with the immediate alerting sensation of cold exposure. Together, the sequence can create a strong feeling of reset without presenting it as medical treatment.
Passive body heating through warm water has been associated with better preparation for sleep when used later in the day. The warm hot tub can therefore become a calm final stage of the Nordic Experience.
One Tub · Two States
This is what makes the Chalet 1932 Nordic Experience distinctive. The hot tub does not begin warm: it is filled with fresh tap water, which before heating is approximately 10°C in winter and approximately 15°C in summer. While still cold, it can optionally be used for cold-water immersion. Then, as the wood burner heats the water, the same tub becomes a warm wood-fired hot tub.
Starting temperatures are approximate and naturally vary with weather and water-supply conditions.
Red Cedar Sauna
The red cedar sauna is the starting point of the Nordic Experience. The scent of timber and dry heat create a sense of release, while stepping back into the clear mountain air immediately changes the body's sensory experience.
For guests who choose the cold plunge, the transition into cold water is brief and intense. It is not a mandatory stage; the experience can be adapted entirely to personal comfort.

Fire & Water
Once the wood burner is lit, the water begins to warm. Steam, the sound of fire and the stone architecture transform the same space from a cold-water experience into a warm, cinematic mountain hot tub.
It is an ideal way to end a day in Kalavryta, at the Kalavryta Ski Center or on the walking routes around the area.
The Ritual in Motion
From the dry heat of the sauna to the fire and steam of the hot tub.
Moving between hot and cold can be intense and is not suitable for everyone. Cold-water immersion is optional. Guests should follow the property's safety guidance and avoid extreme-temperature exposure when a medical reason makes it unsuitable.
